Overview
This year we worked on two mini-docs for Leicester City in the Community, showcasing the journeys of two participants, Frankie and Louis. Through tailored support and the transformative power of snow sports, both young people have overcome personal challenges, developed new skills, and found a sense of community and purpose.
The journeys of Frankie and Louis exemplify how targeted support in sports can lead to profound changes in mental health and personal development. Their transformations serve as inspiration, highlighting the critical role that organisations like LCitC and Snow Camp play in changing lives through the power of sport.
Louis
Louis’ journey was marked by adversity. He was the victim of bullying that culminated in a vicious attack that left him hospitalised. Louis became withdrawn, spending most of his time in his room. Referred to the program through the Violence Reduction Network, Louis met his mentor, Corey, who played a crucial role in his development. Together, they forged a strong bond that began to be the base of Louis’ transformation.

Frankie
Frankie came to LCitC reserved, shy and struggling with her mental health. She rarely smiled and found it very difficult to engage with others. Frankie was referred onto Urban Foxes, a female focussed urban sport programme consisting of Snow sports, climbing and skateboarding.
